According to TripAdvisor, Race Point Beach in the Cape Cod National Seashore, has been awarded one of the Top 25 beaches in the United States. Along with the Provincetown Hotel at Gabriel’s, awarded one of the top 10 accommodations by BedandBreakfast.com, you can’t go wrong in deciding to make a trip to Provincetown and staying with us! Race Point Beach is the most dramatic of our local beaches with it’s long expanse of sand dunes and sea. From here, you can often spot whales in the distance and there is always a sailboat or ship making it’s way to Stellwagen Bank, Boston or our harbors. The beach is also home to Race Point Light Station which is accessible by four wheel drive. If you don’t have a dune vehicle, call Art’s Dune Tours. They offer a wonderful experience and depart daily just a few blocks from The Provincetown Hotel at Gabriel’s. Let us make that dune buggy reservation for you.
If you go to Race Point Beach, plan to spend the day. Bring plenty of sunblock, food and drinks. There are no concession stands here. We can supply you with towels, beach chairs and umbrellas, just ask in the office. There are also no boardwalks so you will be trekking through some short dunes and a length of beach to get near the water. Race Point Beach is grand in every sense which means a rougher surf. This shoreline borders the open Atlantic so check the current and tide before you jump in. Miles and miles of beach, endless dunes, a dramatic ocean and a lack of crowds will make Race Point Beach one of your most spectacular memories of Provincetown.
Getting There — The best way to get anywhere is Provincetown, especially the beaches, is by bike! The loop from The Provincetown Hotel to the Breakwater on the West End and then connecting to the paved bike trail at Herring Cove and ending at Beech Forest is only about 4 miles. There are 4 bike shops in town to choose from and we would be happy to connect you to your pick. There is also the Town Shuttle that runs regularly every half hour in the summer and stops in the Bas Relief Park next door. Driving is the quickest route but be aware that there is a park entrance fee for cars in the summer. Enjoy a pampered stay with us while you explore all of the Provincetown beaches!
