Cape Cod is a haven for wine lovers, with no shortage of wine bars and local wineries. If you’re taking a road trip and exploring Cape Cod, treat yourself to relaxation, history, and a little luxury at any of these unique Cape Cod Wineries.
Cape Cod Winery:
Take a drive to the beautiful beach-lined city of Falmouth. While there you’ll find Cape Cod Winery, a nest of relaxation and comfort designed to emulate the shoreline only 3 miles away. Located on Oxbow Road in the East Falmouth neighborhood, this family-owned and operated winery is open Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. It’s not unusual for guests to be greeted by owners Pete and Erika Orlandella while enjoying a wine tasting under the shade of their large beam and post tent. Ask them about any of their current popular wines, like the Rosé Mermaid Water or the Sauvignon Blanc. You can also inquire about some of their newest projects. They might even invite you to help them with one! Check out their event calendar before stopping in; you might find live music, a food truck, or even vino and vinyasa yoga.
First Crush Winery:
The historic town of Harwich is home to First Crush Winery, a unique COOPerative winery experience. Their mission is “to produce exquisite wines that will turn the heads of the most discriminating, utilizing the finest fruit in the land while sparing no expense on equipment and technology.” Under the creative and scientific eye of the chemist Dr. Frank Puzio, First Crush has produced award-winning wines across the flavor spectrum. Located directly off the 25-mile Cape Cod Rail Trail, this winery offers a rich experience. Enjoy an affordable wine tasting surrounded by stainless steel tanks, barrels, and wine-making equipment. Snack on a cheese plate and peruse one of the largest displays of antique corkscrew collections, immersing yourself in the history of wine-making. Open from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on Thursdays, and 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
If you’re looking for something a little closer to your Provincetown lodging, take a trip to Truro Vineyards for the complete wine-making experience. Located on Shore Road in Truro, this winery, vineyard, and distillery is open 7 days a week, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Saturday, and 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sundays. Enjoy wine tasting in the beautifully restored 1830s farmhouse. Sample spirits from South Hollow Spirits, the Truro Vineyard’s distillery, and the first on Cape Cod since prohibition. Stop in for lunch from the Blackfish Restaurant’s Crush Pad Food Truck and enjoy the view of acres of vineyard grapes growing. With ecologically sustainable practices, you can feel good about stopping here.
